I want you to know you’re not in trouble. However, I wanted to point out that this type of behavior reflects on your ability to do this job. When we can’t rely on you, it puts pressure on everyone else in a way that is not fair and cannot continue.
Note: Talented employees may try to get away with doing less work because they are aware of their value. Ask your employee if they feel micromanaged or if they are unsure of what results are expected of them. More responsibility (and the recognition that comes with it) will often make this type of employee step up to the plate.
