Note: Most people who exhibit this type of behavior have learned this trait during childhood. It is outside your reach to change this personality trait, but it is your responsibility to set a boundary in the workplace to make sure it doesn’t affect other employees.

We want to see you put this same kind of vibrant enthusiasm into your work. Is there any way you can channel this energy into your current projects?

We don’t want to see this turn into an issue that disrupts anyone’s work. We’ve let this slide for awhile, but we need to set some boundaries. Unfortunately, if this happens again you will be written up and sent home on suspension (or whatever action the situation and your office deems appropriate).

Note: The important part comes once you’ve addressed the issue. If the employee responds well to the meeting, and harmony is relatively restored to the office, everyone can continue with work and there is no need to take the matter any further. If however, the employee “tests” you by continuing the behavior, you must address it right away, and carry out any disciplinary actions you discussed in the original meeting.
